Eack Presley was born Trannie Eackford Presley to Noah Edward and Susan Izora (nee Griffin) Presley on 16 SEP 1906 in Fulton, Itawamba Co., Mississippi. The name Griffin is from Wales, thus Eack was some Welsh descent. Eack was raised in East Tupelo by Noah and Susan, with his brothers and sisters. He used a term I have yet to translate and it sounded out as "spootenbach". Does anyone know what this means?!

Susan and Noah named a few of their children with Scottish names.

Eckford is a small village located between the larger towns of Kelso and Jedburgh in the Scottish borders. The village is in close proximity to both the River Teviot and its tributary the Kale Water, and the A698 and the B6401 which run approximately parallel to the respective rivers. The village today consists of around 20 houses, situated off Eckford road, the minor Well road and the historic drove road, the Loaning.

Eack Presley married the former Sarah Ethel McCoy of Cherry Creek, Pontotoc Co., Mississippi, on Saturday, 26 OCT 1929 in Fulton, Itawamba County, Mississippi.

Eack and Ethel Presley had two children, both born in Tupelo, Mississippi.

Jerry Eack Presley 1936

Hazel Dean Presley 1941

While the month and day of these two children were the same, they were not twins and were in fact born five years apart.

Eack farmed during the early part of his life and during his mid-life, was a Certified ASE Mechanic in 1941.

During the 1960s, Eack and Ethel owned a Mobil gas station and it had a shop for Eack to work on cars. The gas station was in the form of a roadhouse. It was on the side of the road, had two pumps under a big awning, a big metal Pegasus sign that swung off the awning over the road, and it was full service. While Eack worked in the shop, Ethel would wait on customers. There was also a Coke machine under the big awning. Suzanne Presley lived in the roadhouse with her grandparents in the 1960s, and helped her grandmother. There was an employee, Walter Jackson, that assisted Eack at his shop. Walter was like family to us all. He carried Eack's granddaughter on his shoulders wherever they went. Walter was married and had a little boy. Walter was given the family Buick when it was time to buy a new one and also Hazel's old piano when it was replaced with a new one. The family cat, Blackie, also lived in and around the roadhouse, having her kittens in the shop.

Eack and Ethel were legal guardians to their grandchildren, Tommy and Suzanne from 1974 to 1980. Tommy and Suzanne had lived in Eack and Ethel's home with their mother, Hazel, between 1962-1974. Eack and Ethel had great love for their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

During the 1970s, Eack farmed with his son Jerry, and worked on the farm equipment. Jerry's farm is in Western Tennessee.

Eack had beautiful blue eyes and black wavy hair, was very peaceful and usually had something funny to say due to his dry sense of humor. Eack looked just like Noah.

Pappa, pronounced "pappaw", loved to fish. When Eack lived in Hughes, Arkansas, he went to Ed's Camp almost daily, which was on western banks of the Mississippi River. He would take me and my brother, teaching us to fish and enjoy nature and wildlife. Ed's Camp is now part of the State Parks and Wildlife, formerly owned by Ed and Ruby Perry. His other pastimes were watching sports, baseball, football and wrestling. Before remote controls, he would stack one TV on top of the other and listen to the third game on a radio propped on his right shoulder.

In 1939, Susan Izora Griffin Presley, Eack's mother passed away and Noah remarried Mary Christine Houston Roberts Presley in 1941, Eack's step-mother.

Noah and Christine had several children together including Harold Ray Presley, former sheriff of Tupelo.

Eack died at Baptist (Central) Memorial Hospital in Memphis, TN. He had survived a heart attack around the year 1972, but his heart finally gave out. His funeral service was held in the chapel of J.W. Curry and Son Funeral Home, burial followed in Fairview Cemetery, Dyersburg, TN.

NOTE: Beware of errors affiliated with the name "Eack". People often think this is a typo and you will see a "Jack". It is NOT Jack. It is EACK, pronounced short e as in Edward and the k, as in Beck. Eckford is a town in Scotland, thus Eackford is a deviation of that name. See notes above.

There are entries in the Early Deeds, Itawamba County, Mississippi, for individuals:

Francis M. Eckford, William Eckford, James and Harriet Eckford, possibly related to Eack's mother, Susan.

As written on a grade school document, Noah, stated in this document as his father, spelled his child's name as "Eckford", no "a". This school document was discovered in November 2022. The school document is signed as "Noah E. Presley, Father". I have also reviewed family documentation of Trannie spelled as "Tranie".
