Notes when inquired about her death: Deaconess Hospital was operated by Methodists. It was on South Eighth Street and it opened in 1895. It had its own nursing school. Deaconess Hospital closed in 1951, but the Methodists opened Methodist Evangelical Hospital in 1960 on East Broadway. In 1989 it was renamed Alliant Medical Pavilion, which later merged into Norton Healthcare which still operates in Louisville. Whether Norton or local Methodist institutions kept any records of Deaconess Hospital, I do not know. You might inquire with the archivist at the University of Louisville about what may have happened to the records of Deaconess Hospital.
