John L. Rowe

John L. rowe, 80, a retired United Fuel Gas Company employee, died at 7:30am today in Holzer Holspital, Gallipolis, where he had been a patient since Feb 17. He resided at 2800 S. Third St.

Mr. Rowe, a lifelong resident of Lawrence County, was employed with the local gas company for 43 years, retiring as a bookkeeper.

He was reared in the Kitts Hill area, a son of the late James W. Nancy Corn Rowe.

Mrs. Rowe was a member of the United Commercial Travelers No. 176 and the Kitts Hill Grange. He attended Mamre Baptist Church.

His first wife, Della Mays Rowe, died in 1926.

Surviving are the widow, Effie Mays Rowe, five daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Eloise) Jenkins and Mrs. William (Betty) Pyles of Ironton, Mrs. J Lowell (Hilda) Rapp of Athens, Mrs. Raymond (Jean) Brammer of St. Petersburg, Fla. and Mrs John (Johanna) Meeks of Kitts Hill; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 pm Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home. Rev. Homer Click and Rev. Clarence E Corn will officiate with burial to be in Woodland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4pm Friday.
