Emma Jane Ashline, daughter of Sylvester and Mary Colton was born in Canada on April 28, 1862. At the early age of Three years she came to the United States of America, making her home in the vicinity of Lamont, Iowa for 55 years. For the past fifteen years the deceased has made her home in the city of Des Moines, Iowa.
She leaves to mourn her departure, two sons, Hugh Eckert of Minneapolis, Minn., Duard Eckert of Lost Wood, N. Dak.; three daughters, Mrs. Trean Hughes of Stillwater, Minn., Mrs. Cecile Hornsby of Anoka, Minn., and Margie Kremer of Des Moines; three brothers, Milton Colton and Byron Colton, of Lamont, Iowa, Loren Colton of California and one sister, Mrs. Bertha Backus of Oelwein. Three are eleven grandchildren
After eight months of failing health she passes away on Thursday Sept. 18, 1934, at the age of 73 years 4 months and 21 days.
Funeral services were held from the Methodist church at Lamont on Saturday afternoon, the officiating minister being Rev. J.W.Atkins.
Interment was in Campton cemetery.
