CLOVERPORT - EDNA PATE, 82, of Cloverport, died Sunday morning, Jan. 11, 2004, at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital. She was born in Sample on Jan. 9, 1922, a daughter of the late Hubert Tate and Lou Effie Dowell Tate. She was a member of Cloverport United Methodist Church. She was the retired owner-operator of Pate's Restaurant in Cloverport for 27 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Pate, on April 19, 1992; a granddaughter, Julie Pate, on Jan. 17, 1979; and a sister, Helen Newby, on March 12, 1991. Survivors include four sons, Leroy Pate of Cloverport, Paul Pate of Georgetown, Ind., Jim Pate of Tell City, Ind., and Tim Pate of Cloverport; two sisters, Vivian Armes of Cloverport and Doris Mercer of Brandenburg; 18 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wallace Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Frederick Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Cloverport Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wallace Funeral Home from 2 until 9 p.m. Tuesday and after 8 a.m. Wednesday.
