George John was the eldest of his parents' five children, named after his father and his uncle Jean (John). In the last extant census in which he appears, 16 year old George is working on his family's farm in Liberty Johnson, IA in 1880, a few years before they moved to Nebraska, where he died in 1892. I cannot locate a death record for him but he possibly died in a farming accident. His father raised cattle and hogs, which they drove to market in Omaha (see image). There is no record of a marriage for George, who is buried with his parents.
