Was a bachelor all his life. He was an excellent trapper and at one time made enough money in one week of trapping that he could have purchased a new Model T for cash had he wanted to. He died very wealthy with the proceeds from his estate going to his two remaining brothers & one sister, and all of his many nephews and nieces. He didn't trust banks and kept his money, several thousand dollars, in coffee cans buried in the dirt basement floor. It was said there were well over a dozen coffee cans, possibly as many as twenty, stuffed with cash.
Some family members (including myself) believe he was poisoned, but an autopsy was never performed, so the cause of death was listed as 'natural causes'. Jim Childers (47455615)
