The mournful duty has devolved upon us of announcing the death of Captain Thomas Brook Beall, President of the Farmers & Mechanics' Bank of Georgetown, on Saturday last, after a tedious illness of some weeks.

Genius of Liberty Tuesday, October 17, 1820
Leesburg, Virginia
Communicated.
Died, on Saturday, the 30th ultimo after an illness of two or three weeks, Captain Thomas Brook Beall, president of the Farmers' and Mechanics' Bank of Georgetown. Mr. Beall, from his infancy an inhabitant of Georgetown, had, by a never deviating and unexampled course of conduct, together with the natural suavity of his manners, ingratiated himself into the favor of every one who knew him. He was a husband to the widow and a father to the orphan. The hand of protection he readily extended to the indigent and suffering and to his humane and benevolent disposition may, probably, be attributed the commencement of the disease which proved fatal to him; for, neither the scorching rays of a summer's sun, nor the howling blasts of a dreary winter, could stop him from visiting those persons whom he thought might stand in need of assistance. In all associations of a benevolent nature, he was in the foremost rank. But why attempt to eulogize this man – words fail to do him justice. Those of his acquaintance and connexion can best describe by the anguish depicted in each countenance, the loss they have sustained. I confess my personal acquaintance with the deceased was short; yet, in that time the impression of years was made never to be erased. Shortly before his death he subscribed very liberally and was very active in procuring subscribers for building a church in Georgetown, being seriously impressed with the necessity of religion, some time before he was taken sick and although not a member of any particular church, he died resigned and evinced no fear at the symptoms of his approaching dissolution. This is a happy reflection to a large connexion, who will, with me and many others, long deplore his loss.
