A Jamestown resident since 1945, she was born Feb. 2, 1921, in Fort Wayne, Ind., the daughter of the late Andrew and Cleo (Emil) Degler. She was the widow of Jack W. Lloyd, whom she married Aug. 14, 1945, at Plattsburgh Air Force Base, and who died Nov. 29, 1995.
she was a 1939 graduate of Elmhurst High School in Fort Wayne, she served in the U.S. Army during WWII from July 15, 1943 to Oct. 6, 1945 as a registered nurse with the rank of first lieutenant. She had been employed as a registered nurse by the former Jamestown General Hospital for 20 years retiring in 1981. A member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, she also belonged to the War Vets Recreation and Ira Lou Spring Post 149 American Legion. She loved to golf, play bridge and was an avid tomato grower.
Surviving are a son, John W. Lloyd of Jamestown; and a daughter, Deborah J. Daminski of Fredonia. Besides her parents and husband she was predeceased by a brother, Thurl E. Degler.
