Emelia was born in Umkirch, Baden, Germany on 22 April 1856 to Johann Scherer and Katharina (Wohlleb) Scherer. She married Francis Toscani 24 Sept. 1877 in Breisach, Baden, Germany. They moved to Santa Rosa, CA shortly after immigrating to the US. Emelia was visting her son John J. Toscani in Vallejo at the time of her death. She is buried in the family plot in Santa Rosa; currently the grave is unmarked.
