BREEZY POINT - Duane Gendreau Sr., age 66, died on Friday, April 7, 2006, at his home on Ossawinnamakee Road, Pequot Lakes. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2006, at the Crosslake Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark Anderson officiating. Visitation starts at 11 a.m. with services at 1 p.m. Tuesday. Interment will be at Pelican Woods Cemetery in Breezy Point.
Duane Richard Gendreau was born January 2, 1940, in Minneapolis to Samuel and Dorothy (Gulstrand) Gendreau. He grew up in Edina and graduated from Edina High School in 1957. He worked in sales for many years, first in clothing and then in food sales. He also worked as a barber for ten years. In later years, Duane worked as a volunteer for Store to Door, delivering food and medical supplies to shut-ins in the metro area. He was united in marriage to Geraldine (Gerry) Gray on July 11, 1970, in Richfield, Minn. They lived in Maple Lake for 27 years. They built their retirement home on Ossawinnamakee Road, where they have lived since October of 2000.
Duane is survived by Gerry, his devoted wife of 35 years; his son, Duane (Rick) Gendreau Jr. and wife Kirsten of St. Louis Park; brother, Dan W. Gendreau of Fort Meyers, Fla.; grandchildren, Jason, Katie and Lindsey Gendreau; and great-grandchild, Samuel Gendreau; sisters-in-law, Lavern Johnson of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., and Jane Gray of Waukesha, Wis. He was preceded in death by his parents. Services entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel of Crosslake.
