Saginaw, Michigan Passed away Sunday, December 11, 2005. Age 85 years. Frances Lucille Salmer was born July 19, 1920 in Saginaw, the daughter of the late Frank G. and Pearl (Robinson) Salmer. She graduated from Saginaw High School in 1938. She had worked in the Saginaw Public Schools, at Arthur Hill Trade and Technical School for fifteen years. She received her Bachelor's degree in Early Education from Central Michigan University. She taught in the Swan Valley School District at Shields Elementary and Havens Elementary Schools. She also taught private piano lessons for many years. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Hemlock. Mrs. Penrod participated in Bible study groups and studied the Psalms. She and several musician friends volunteered music and dance lessons in the Thumb area and sent many young children to music camp over the years. She enjoyed travel and especially treasured a month-long trip to France. Surviving are her daughter, Patricia Mae (Persons) and her husband Harold E. Evans, Saginaw; four step-grandchildren and their families; one sister, Norma and her husband Carl Stockford, Saginaw; several nieces, nephews and their families; and several dear friends. Frances was predeceased by her husband James Penrod, a son Ronnie Lee Persons who died at the age of 4 years, a son-in-law, Donald O. Willy; two sisters, Ruth Dunham and Donna Cantrell; and a half-sister Arlene LaPointe who passed away as a young child. In accordance with Mrs. Penrod's wishes, private committal services have taken place in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2005, at Zion Lutheran Church, 17927 Dice Road at Iva Road, Hemlock, west of Hemlock Road. Rev. Paul Hauser will officiate. Memorial donations may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Hemlock. Arrangements by W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors.
