BEVERLY FLETCHER PORTIS
CHARLOTTE — Mrs. Portis, 60, of Charlotte died at her residence on Monday, October 22, 2007.
She was born August 15, 1947, in Gastonia, NC daughter of the late Exlice and Martha Butler Fletcher.
Mrs. Portis graduated from Ashley High School in Gastonia, NC in 1965 and completed her diploma in secretarial science at Kings College in 1966. Beverly joined Central Piedmont Community College in 1995, where she initially worked for the Facilities Services department. Successive promotions led Beverly to the Assistant Vice-president for Instruction's office, the Dean of City View and finally, to the Dean of CPCC's North Campus. Beverly will be remembered by her CPCC family and friends as a deeply caring, tender-hearted, service-oriented and fun professional. She was a devoted and loving wife and mother and will be loved and missed forever.
Surviving are her husband, Don Portis; son, Trey Portis and her beloved Doberman Rocky all of Charlotte.
Funeral service for Mrs. Portis will be held in the Dilworth Chapel of Hankins & Whittington on Friday, October 26, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Gaston Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening October 25, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and other times at the home.
Pallbearers for the service will be David, Bowen, Dale Callan, Christopher Hailey, Sgt. Stanley Moore, Nicky Teeter and Tracy Moore.
Beverly loved flowers, floral tributes may be sent to Mrs. Portis in care of Hankins & Whittington.
