Edmund Carr, Manchester, Dies Today
Carroll County Commissioner Edmund L. Carr, 66, of 15 North Main Street, Manchester, husband of Mrs. Edna Krebs Carr, died early today at the Carroll County General Hospital, Westminster. Death was attributed to a heart attack.
Mr. Carr had been a commissioner since 1957, when he was appointed to the board to fill the unexpired term of Walter Bennett. He was elected to the board in 1958 and re-elected in 1962. He was an active Republican.
He was a member of the Carroll County General Hospital Board, the Carroll County Welfare Board and was a director of the Carroll County Bank and Trust Co. and also of the Dug Hill Fire Insurance Co. He was a member of the Lineboro-Manchester Lions Club. He was co-owner of Carr's Department Store, Manchester.
A son of the late Walter M. and Norma Gardner Carr, he was born in Baltimore. He was a member of the Lutheran congregation of St. Jacob's (Stone) Union Church, near Glenville, Pa.
Surviving, besides his widow, are two sisters and one brother, Mrs. Mary Lippy Miller, Manchester; Mrs. Rachel Martin, Hampstead, and William G. Carr, Towson.
Funeral services will be held at St. Jacob's Church Friday at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Dr. Kenneth S. Ehrhart, his pastor, officiating. The body will lie in state at the church for an hour before the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the Tipton-Eline Funeral Home, 202 South Main Street, Hampstead, tomorrow from 4 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
In lieu of other memorials it is suggested that contributions be sent to Carroll County General Hospital or to the Heart Fund.
