Daughter of Thomas Jefferson & Martha Ann (Walker) Eatmon. Her father was a Baptist preacher. There were 14 children in her family: her siblings were Alfred, John Wesley, Jonah, Janie, Elis, Melvin, Cleveland, Liza, Polly, Etta, Ida, Willard and Anna Mae.

Married C. C. "Lum" Colwell at her parents' house on Sept. 11, 1910 in Hoot Owl Holler near Asheville, NC. Three days later, Fannie took sick with typhoid fever. It was 21 days before the fever broke. Lum spent his days and nights taking care of her.

Came to Wellington in Feb. 1915.
