"The Hoosier Democrat," Flora, Indiana: Saturday, August 19, 1916 Minnie Loretta Shanklin, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Y. SHANKLIN, was born hear Logansport on February 5, 1874, making her at the time of her death 42 years, 6 months and 7 days of age. When she was ten years of age she came with her parents to Democrat township, settling on the old Shanklin farm, where she resided until her marriage to Dallas M. Quinn on March 30, 1901, when they took up their residence about two miles northwest of Cutler and they continued to reside in that neighborhood continuously until death separated them. She united with the Cutler Presbyterian church on January 8, 1888 and ever afterward lived a devoted, consecrated Christian life. She was always an obedient child and as she grew older she shared with the mother the responsibilities of the home and her brothers and sisters had always looked upon her as a mother, counselor and advisor. She leaves to mourn her loss a devoted husband, two daughters, Thelma Lucile aged 12, and Wilma Nell, aged 10; the parents, one brother, John C. Shanklin of Frankfort, and five sisters, as follows: Mrs. Jennie Stephens, Mrs. Nora Thomas, Mrs. Mary Quinn, Mrs. Ruth Beard and Miss Savannah Shanklin, all of Carroll county. One sister, Mrs. Faye Shoff, preceded her to the Eternal Home more than four years ago. A number of nephews and nieces and a large host of relatives and friends also survive. In the church, in the Sunday School, in the Ladies’ Aid Society and in the Woman’s Missionary Society she will be greatly missed. She always strived to do her part of the work with that untiring spirit, which reminded us of our master when He was her eon earth ever going about doing good. And her great joy seemed to be “Not to be ministered until, but to minister,” and to give her life for the work of her Master.
