Born Susan Virginia Backman on Feb. 14, 1919, she was raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, as the only child of Lester and Jeanette Backman.
She was predeceased by her first son, Henry Charles Whitaker III, on Feb. 2, 1951; her first husband, Henry Charles Whitaker Jr., on Dec. 14, 1961; and her second husband of 45 years, Roger Marcellus Griffith, who passed away on June 7, 2008.
Her burial location has not been located yet.. She was not buried with her first husband and son.. at least no marker was found there.
