Francis Macdonald Cornford, FBA, (27 February 1874 – 3 January 1943) was an English classical scholar and poet; he was the son of Revd James Cornford and Mary Emma Cornford, nee Macdonald.

Because of the similarity of his name and his wife's, he was known to family as "FMC" and his wife Frances Cornford was known as "FCC". He was educated at St Paul's School and Trinity College, Cambridge, where he was a Fellow from 1899 and held a university teaching post from 1902. He became Laurence Professor of Ancient Philosophy in 1931 and was elected a Fellow of the British Academy in 1937. He was cremated at Cambridge Crematorium on 6th January 1943. His father-in-law Sir Francis was known to family as 'Uncle Frank'.

Father of Helena (1913-1996), John (1915-1936), Christopher (1917-1993), Hugh (1921-1997) and Ruth (1924-1992).

He was trained as a classical scholar by Henry Jackson; 10 friends of HENRY JACKSON who are also buried in 'Ascension' are:
