Mrs. Summers is the daughter of the late Mabel Bachman and Jacob Earl Saum. Mrs. Summers was a retired bookkeeper from the Woolworth Company. She spent 45 years at her home place here in Virginia. She was a life member and past president of her local Elks Lodge, a Sunday school teacher at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, and in her spare time loved to needle point.
