Seaborn enlisted in the Confederate States Army on 13 May 1862 in Barnesville, Georgia. He was mustered as a Private in Company B, 4th Battalion Georgia Sharp Shooters. Seaborn was mortally wounded in the engagement near Hoover's Gap, Tennessee on 24 June 1863 where he was left on the field and died.

His birth age is estimated from letter on his service record dated 27 November 1861. This letter states his age as 23 years and describes him as being born in Pike County, Georgia; 5 feet & 8 inches tall; fair complexion; blue eyes; light hair and a farmer. It also stated he enlisted 29 June 1861 in Cobb County, Georgia even though his muster roll indicates different information. The 1850 & 1860 census records show he was born about 1840.

(special thanks to Dennis Brooke for the following info) THIS SOLDIER WAS NEVER BURIED OR DETAINED AT CAMP CHASE CONFEDERATE PRISON where a memorial has been created. Private Seaborn G. Abbott was wounded at the battle of Hoover's Gap, Tennessee. He died not long after. He is buried in Coffee County Tennessee which is not too far from the Battle of Hoover's Gap.
