Euzetta "Mickey" McKee: Daughter, Sister, Friend, Student, Wife, Mother, Aunt, Teacher, GolferEuzetta Holeman was born

July 25, 1919 to Albert Rowland Holeman and Mary Ida Primrose in Eugene Oregon. Exactly six years later to the day, July 25, 1925 her sister Betty was born.

Euzetta completed high school in Eugene and attended the University of Oregon for her freshman year. The next year she moved to Oregon State University (then called "college") in Corvallis where she graduated in June of 1941. At Oregon State she joined Delta Zeta Sorority.

During her first year at Oregon State she had met a young man by the name of Myrl McKee – and although they had had a few "dates" both went their separate ways for the next 3 years – until after she moved back to Corvallis. Upon returning to her apartment one weekend she was amazed to find Myrl in her apartment visiting her roommate! Within a month or two they were making plans to be married. Myrl graduated in June of 1942 and one week later on June 7th, they were married and left immediately for New York City where Myrl was to enter the Navy as an Ensign.
Their first son, Gerald Rowland McKee, always known as Gary, was born May 9, 1944 in Washington D.C. Their daughter Mary Johanna McKee was born on February 19, 1946 in Eugene, immediately after Myrl was retired from the service. A few months later the family moved to Portland where after a couple of years their third child Larry Myrl McKee was born on April 11, 1949.

She was busy raising the family in the early years, but found time for some volunteering by teaching Sunday School at the nearby Presbyterian Church, PTA work as needed at school, participating in her sorority alumni group and joining a couple of bridge clubs. As soon as the children were all in school she decided to take up golf – and this became a special joy for the rest of her life. Active in bridge clubs, Sunday school teacher and PTA. She had been a long time member of Portland Golf Club and had been an active member of Calvin Presbyterian Church in Tigard. She had two hole in ones!

She was able to help Myrl with some bookkeeping in his business – McKee Rambler, as well as a lease company that they started and she did the record keeping for that at home. She also worked for several years at the Administration Office for the Portland School District and in substitute secretarial work in various schools in the district.

After selling McKee Rambler, they moved on to a Chevrolet Buick dealership in Chehalis, Washington – then bought a Pontiac GMC agency in Oregon City, Oregon which they continued to operate until 1980 when they were ready to retire.

During their retirement they motored to California in their motor home and discovered the Happy Wanderer RV Park in Indio, first staying in a rented lot and then later purchased a lot with a park model coach and continued to spend approximately 4 ½ months there each winter.

One of the many joys of their life together was the many many trips they were able to take. Traveling throughout most of Europe, China, Japan, Philippines, Korea, The Holy Land, Australia, New Zealand, Alaska, Caribbean and of course Hawaii.

Mary Jo was diagnosed with Friedreichs Ataxia, a disease similar to Multiple Sclerosis, at age 20, and spent most of her life in a wheelchair. Larry died at age 37 after battling leukemia for the last 6 or 7 years of his life. Both Mary Jo and Larry were married but had no children. Gary married Mary Bissell and acquired two lovely daughters, Kim and Kelly. In time each of them married, Kim having three children, Ryan, Mary Kate and Thomas. She was preceded in death by Myrl L. McKee, her husband of 62 years.
