Mr. Reed, who was struck in the face by a shotgun charge fired at close range, died in a Waldron hospital Wednesday. Sheriff Ollie Holland reported that Reed was shot accidentally by Max Williams, Dierks Lumber Company woods superintendent, as Reed approached a hunting stand occupied by Mr. Williams who was absolved of blame after investigation of the accident.
Mr. Reed, a World War II veteran, is survived by his wife and a child.
