Robert was born in Coryell County, Texas, to the late Bill and Hester Pearl (Troutt) Alford. He was a World War II Army veteran. He married Rosalie Locklear on Oct. 11, 1947, in Waco. Robert was a farmer and rancher. He had worked for Kimble Feed Co. of Clifton and Clifton Lumber Company. Because of health reasons in 1989, he retired as a supervisor from Clifton Chemical Lime. Robert was a member of Grace Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of almost 65 years, Rosalie, of Clifton; daughter, Carol Franklin; sister, Marybelle Donaldson, of Ft. Worth; grandson, John Franklin Sr. and wife, Ary, of Temple; great-grandchildren, Mary Grace and John Junior; and several nieces and nephews.
