Was One of Five Brothers Who Fought in the Civil War
FUNERAL SERVICES TO BE HELD SUNDAY Will Take Place From the First United Brethren Church
Michael Capper, 77, one of eight brothers who fought in the Civil War died at his home, 312 Torrey Street Friday evening. The deceased belonged to a family which had one of the most notable military records of any family in the state of Ohio. Besides the seven brothers who fought in the Civil War he had one brother who fought in the Mexican War and his father bore a reputation for some of his heroic deeds while a soldier in the War of 1812. The deceased served three years in the Civil War. During this time he took part in some of the bloodiest battles that were fought. He was born at Frederick County, Virginia, and came to this section of the country when a young man and has lived in the vicinity of Akron ever since.
Mr. Capper was a member of Buckley Post, G A R and commanded the respect of every member of that organization. The funeral services will be held at the home Sunday at 2:30 pm (Note: copied as printed in newspaper - apparently a few lines from this story were not printed)

Mustered in Aug. 27, 1861 in Carrolton OH.
Captured Sept. 15, 1862 at Harpers Ferry VA, confined in Richmond VA.
No indication when he was released.
Mustered out Aug. 26, 1864 in Chattanooga TN, discharged by reason of Expiration of service.
Mustered in Feb. 23, 1865, in Co. L, 5th Regt., Ohio Cavalry, in Alliance OH.
Mustered out Oct. 30, 1865 in Charlotte NC by reason of General Order 144, War Dept.
Granted an invalid pension for lung and heat disease Jan. 10, 1891.
