Ruth Evelyn Eppley, 88, of 18 Locust Lane, Plainfield, died Monday, Oct. 28, 1996, in Cumberland County Nursing Home, Middlesex Township.
Born Oct. 11, 1909, in South Middleton Township, she was a daughter of the late John M. Sr. and Lillie M. Stambaugh Nelson and was the widow of Arthur Raymond Eppley Sr., who died in 1978.
A retired employee of the G.R. Kinney Shoe Co., Carlisle, with 36 years of service, she was of Protestant faith.
Surviving are two sons, John W. of Mt. Holly Springs and Harvey N. of Carlisle; a daughter, Marian A. Battista of Lewistown; two brothers, Carl F. Nelson Sr. and John M. Nelson Jr., both of Mt. Holly Springs.; six grandchildren; a step-granddaughter; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Richard in 1927 and Arthur R. Jr. in 1948; a daughter, Catherine A. in 1945; and three brothers, Paul F. Nelson, Carson H. Nelson and Clarence W. Nelson.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with the Rev. Howard A. Kerstetter officiating.
Burial will be in Westminster Cemetery, North Middleton Township.
Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

She was the widow of Arthur Raymond Eppley Sr. Surviving are two sons, John W. of Mount Holly Springs and Harvey N. of Carlisle; a daughter, Marian A. Battista of Lewistown; six grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; and several great-grandchildren.
