Chauncey Akers, 95
Chauncey Akers, 95, Sarasota, Fla., and formerly of Peru, died Oct. 31, 2000. Born April 13, 1905, in Terre Haute, he retired as a district superintendent after 41 years with Northern Indiana Public Service Utilities, Peru. He married Thelma Shelburne in 1928. She preceded him in death in 1994.
Survivors include daughters, Sally Garrison, Blue Grass, Iowa, Mary Durland, San Luis Obispo, Calif.; a son, Allen L., Indianapolis; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be later at the First United Methodist Church. National Cremation Society, Sarasota chapter, is in charge of arrangements.
