Don Franklin Beatty of Hopkington, Iowa died Wednesday evening, April 16, 1980, at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids. He was born near Washington and had worked as a steamfitter in Iowa City and Cedar Rapids for about 53 years.
The funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the United Methodist Church at Hopkington, and graveside rites are scheduled in Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington at 2:30 p.m.
He was born to John and Nettie Herring Beatty on 15 September 1899 in Washington County, Iowa.His first wife, Norma Lucille White Beatty died 12 Oct 1953.
Surviving are his wife, Twila (Berry) Beatty; two daughters, Marjorie and Merry Ellen, four step-daughters, two step-sons; a sister, Mrs. Lee (Ethel) Ebner of Burlington; 16 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
