AKERSHOEK, MRS. PHYLLIS ANN Fremont

Mrs. Phyllis Ann Akershoek, age 84, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday morning, August 6, 2012. She was born on June 9, 1928 in Brunswick, Michigan to Murel V. and Mildred Ann (Bunce) Church. Phyllis was a member of First Reformed Church in Fremont. On October 2, 1948 she married Donald P. Akershoek and he preceded her in death on July 22, 1994.

She was also preceded in death by her granddaughters, Jennifer and Georgette Pulaski; by her brothers, William and Glenn "Norm" Church; and by her sister, Bernice Reeths. Survivors include three daughters: Beth (Randy) Pulaski of Kent City, Judy (Keven) Luchies of Fremont, Kristi (Lonny) Higgs of Fremont; nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; one brother, John (Grace) Church of Twin Lake; one sister, Eva (Jerry) Cordrey of Illinois; and her sisters-in-law: Jean Church of Holton, Dawn Church of Muskegon, Esther (Valmond) Smith of Fremont.

The Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at First Reformed Church in Fremont (348 E. Main Street) with her nephew, Pastor Scott Church officiating. Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Fremont. Visitation will be at the Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home from 6-9 PM on Wednesday, August 8, 2012. Suggested Memorial: The Kitchen Fund of First Reformed Church.
