Abilene, Tx. - Jimmie W. Rose, 71, passed away on Tuesday, September 4, 2012, at his residence. Funeral services will be 10:00a.m., Thursday, September 6, 2012 at Ft. Phantom Hill Baptist Church with Rudy Fambrough officiating. Burial will follow in Ft. Phantom Hill Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory St. Visitation will be from 6 to 8p.m. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Jimmie was born on August 13, 1941 to Arthur Byron and Bessie Polley Rose in Ft. Worth, TX. He served in the U.S. Air Force for eight years and worked for WTU from 1975 to 2003. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Stamford.

Jimmie loved music and playing his guitar and he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. He had a passion for airplanes, and now he has flown home to be with the Lord.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother and one sister.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Rose of Abilene; his sons, Joseph Morris and wife, Brenda of Midland, Jerry Morris and wife, Renee of San Antonio, Jimmie Rose, Jr. and wife, Connie of Abilene; and James Rose and wife, Tammy of Abilene; one brother, Harold Rose of Azle; two sisters, Fran Early of Nugent, TX and Wanda Roddy of Irving, TX; four grandchildren, Jacquelynne Yorton, Benjamin Morris, Tori Rose, and Shelby Rose; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be members of the Masonic Lodge of Stamford and honorary pallbearers will be John Beckett and Bill Holley.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ft. Phantom Baptist Church or Hospice of the Big Country.
