Gene Elledge, age 74, of Archer City, Texas, passed away Wednesday morning, April 14, 2010, in Olney, Texas.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday, April 16, 2010, in the Archer City Cemetery in Archer City, Texas, with Rev. John Welter, Executive Director of Faith Mission in Wichita Falls, officiating. Services are under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.
Mr. Elledge was born June 29, 1935, in Mansville, Oklahoma, to Jewell Lester and Susie Lee Barnes Elledge.
He and Janie Delores Myers were married January 25, 1969, in Archer City. She preceded him in death on January 11, 1998.
He had been a resident of Archer City since 1946 where he was a member of the Faith Memorial Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Archer Masonic Lodge #708 A.F. & A.M.
Survivors include his daughter, LaWaunna May and her husband Jerry of Archer City; his brother, Jewell Lorenzel Elledge and his wife Laura of Mustang, Oklahoma; his sister, Brenda Bates and her husband Donny of Iowa Park; and three grandchildren, Stephen May, Christopher May and Billy Joe Elledge. Also, three neices Rhonda Elledge Barney, Darla Bates Chandler, Hope Elledge and one nephew Donny Bates, Jr.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his son, Billy Charles Elledge on May 23, 2003; his parents, and one brother, Billy Joe Elledge on April 8, 1958.
Pallbearers will be Donny Bates, Jr., Charles Carriger, Gary Chandler, Jr., Billy Joe Elledge, Harvey Light, and Chris May.
The family suggests memorials to the Archer City Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 198, Archer City, Texas, 76351.
