Dr. George C. Borst died very suddenly, January 8, at his home in Newville, Cumberland County. He had been ill for a short time but was able to be up again. Dr. Borst, one of Cumberland Valley's best physicians, was born at Cottage, this county, March 9, 1854. He was of German descent. When a young man he attended Logan Academy at Bellwood and was graduated from Bellevue Hospital Medical College in New York in 1876. He practiced at Smyrna, Delaware; Mount Union; and Newville. He was a coroner of Huntingdon County at one time, a school director, a surgeon for PRR and a medical examiner for a number of life insurance companies. Dr. Borst was a member of the National, State, and County Medical Associations; and the C. V. Association. He was president of the latter in 1902. He belonged to the Odd Fellows, Mystic Circle, Royal Arcanum and the Mount Union POS of A. He was a steward in the Methodist Church. His wife and two daughters, Lolita and Gertrude survive. Funeral services were held at the home at noon on Thursday. Interment at Mount Union
