Helen Boyce Hawkinberry, 81, of Fairmont died on Thursday (Oct. 15, 2009) at the Arbors at Fairmont Nursing Center.
She was born on Feb. 1, 1928, in Fairmont, a daughter of the late Clarence and Maggie Cunningham Boyce.
She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Robert E. Hawkinberry, who passed away Aug. 14, 1972.
Helen was a graduate of East Fairmont High School. She retired with 30 years of service from Owens-Illinois, where she worked in the selecting department. She was an active member of the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary No. 2373 and held several offices, including president. Helen was very active after her retirement, doing volunteer work and continuing to work several jobs.
She is survived by her sons Mark Hawkinberry and his wife Linda of Grafton and John Hawkinberry of Fairmont; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene F. Boyce.
Friends and family may call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont from 2-8 p.m. Sunday and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday. Services will be held at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Monday with Evangelist Kevin Lough officiating.
Interment will immediately follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
