When I was young some of my first memories of him where (were) how big and strong he was. Even though he was big his size never scared me. He was always gentle and understanding.
He would be stern if need by but always in a (Fair) Nice way.
He worked all the time but sometimes I could go with him.
On these occasions I learned a lot of what I know now. How to drive a standard shift truck. How to drive a tractor, and how to enjoy being outdoors.
He taught me how to be safe with guns (after having to sit in the truck halfway thru a dove shoot) I learned everything I know about quail hunting (my favorite passtime) from him. He never could shoot as well as I could but I never have been able to train bird dogs like he oculd.
As I got older he trusted me to work our building crews even before I could legally drive. At the time I thought I was too young and he was expecting too much out of me.
As I look back this trust enabled me to work labor and solve problems on my own because he was on the mail route and wasn't available to ask.
My main reason for writing this was to give him something for his birthday that he didn't have. I guess there are always things that should have been said that weren't and that's another reason for this note.
Thank you DADDY for all your've done for me over my lifetime. Your Love and guidance have been priceless. I LOVE you very much and hope you have many more happy and health full birthdays.

Sorry this is late but better late than never. I love You Byron ( Youngest son of Marlin)
