Bernette Martin, age 98 of Shakopee died on Saturday, September 1 at Friendship Manor Health Center, Shakopee. She was born on September 23, 1913 to Herman and Johanna Schuette in Gaylord, Sibley County. On July 13, 1935 she was united in marriage to Roscoe Martin. The family moved to Shakopee in 1943. In 1960 she joined the Martha Circle of St. John's Lutheran Church and participated until her health failed. Bernette was preceded in death by her husband in 1996 and son DuWayne in 1979; her parents, sisters, Selma Volinkaty and Caecelia Kuphal; 2 brothers, Alfred Schuette and Alvin Schuette. Bernette is survived by son, Don; daughter Roxanne (Robert) Jackelen; 2 grandchildren, Scott Jackelen and Tanya (Nate) Stadler; 3 great grandchildren, Gaven, Emily and Amber Stadler all of Shakopee.
Services: Funeral Service, Saturday, September 8, 2012 11 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church, 119 West 8th Avenue, Shakopee. Interment, Valley Cemetery Shakopee. The Reverend Randall J. Romsdahl will officiate.
Visitation: Vistiation is at the church on Saturday, September 8 from 9-11 AM
Memorials: The family prefers memorials to St. John's Lutheran Church or Valley Cemetery.
