He was a Finnish baron and statesman. He was named the son of Carl Johan Stjernvall, first only Stjernvall, but after his mother's entry into the new marriage was adopted by his stepfather Carl Johan Walleen on his Finnish baronial clan and received the name Stjernvall-Walleen. In 1823 he became a student in Turku, and was in 1825-36, in the military service, where he participated less in the Russo-Turkish War in Asia, and in 1829,he was appointed in 1834 to second lieutenant. In 1837, he was hired for specific assignments from the then Minister of State Secretary for Finland, Count Robert Henrik Rehbinder. He became bed-chamber in 1840 and 1841, and was employed by the Grand Duke-heir (later Alexander II), who was then the University Chancellor, in particular, concerning the affairs of the University and became the Acting Chancellor secretary in 1844. When Alexander ascended the throne, he was also closer to the political center of events, and the ruler's personal.
