Fred W. Alteneder, 74, died at 11:00 a.m. Sunday at his home, 1407 Hershey Ave., following an extended illness.
He was born Oct. 13, 1892 at New Era, the son of William and Louise Kleinschmidt Alteneder, and was a life resident of this community.
He married Helen E. Davis, Jan. 7, 1917, at Rock Island. He was veteran of World War 1.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Donald (Fredia) Ridenour, and Mrs. Donald (Juanita) Bridges both of Muscatine; two brothers, Charles of Muscatine and Alfred of Fairport; and one sister, Mrs. Ella Minor of Oakland, California; three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
His parents, wife, one son, and one sister preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the George M. Wittich Funeral home.
Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
