Vada was the daughter of Thaddeus Terrell and Martha Curtsinger. Vada married Samuel Henry Foster on January 25, 1925, in Washington County, Kentucky. They had three children, Martha Florance, William Thomas, with only one, Beatrice Lavon, living to adulthood. She later married Ernest Redman, on November 14, 1936, in Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky. They were the parents of five children, Joseph, Betty Ann, James W., Donald L., and Jerry Allen.
