Roy was the son of Clyde Ross Davenport and Frances Maude Rogers Davenport. He married Mildred May Landherr Davenport on June 22, 1947. He worked for many years as a type setter for the Bakersfield Californian newspaper. Roy and Mildred had four children, Kenneth, Michael, Sharon, and Laurie. His grandchildren are Casey, Kevin, Ashley, Kyle, and Matthew. He was preceded in death by his wife Mildred in 2005, granddaughter Jade in 1983, and great granddaughter Brenna in 2000. He died from alzheimer's/dementia.
