SANFORD – Mr. Herbert H. Nickerson, 67, road and control manager for the City of Sanford since 1944, died Monday morning at his home after a long illness. He had been on a leave of absence from the city for the past year and a half.
Mr. Nickerson was born in East Kingston, N.Y., Dec. 7, 1884, spent 21 years in Cuba with the United Fruit Company, and came to Sanford from Portland, Oregon, 14 years ago, making his home at 319 W. 12th St.
He is survived by the widow and one daughter, Miss Elathier Nickerson, Williamsburg, Ky. Brisson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
