Henry Meyer was the son of Christoff Meyer and Helena Halmes. Born in 1882, he lived his early life in Cass County, Nebraska with his parents and 12 siblings. He married Elvina Anderson there on Feb 20, 1907. Five of his children, Helen, Howard, Ethel, Clayton, and Paul, were born in Cass County.

After his mother's death in 1918 Henry and Elvina moved their family to Chase County, Nebraska where they resided on a farm near Enders. Youngest son, Everett, was born on this farm.

Tragedy found the family when Elvina became ill with cancer. She died in 1928 when her youngest child was only three. It was very hard for the family after her death.

Henry continued to farm until his death. He passed away in 1942 from complications of a ruptured appendix.
