Walter F. Reedy, 81, of Pottsville, died Saturday morning at Schuylkill Center, Pottsville. Born in Trevorton, June 2, 1928, he was the son of the late LeRoy R. and Mabel Schwartz Reedy.
He was a graduate of Branch Township High School. Until retiring, he was employed by Higgins Mining, and prior to that he was employed for the Steins Mill Breaker. Walter was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church, Llewellyn, where he was active in many of the church functions. He was also an avid baseball player.
Surviving are his sister, Betty Jane Direnzo, Pottsville; a niece, Danelle Lazarchick, Wyomissing; a nephew, Patrick Direnzo, Pottsville; and two great-nephews, Jon and Ian Lazarchick.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday from Friedens Lutheran Church, 54 Church Road, Llewellyn. Pastor Robert Reier will officiate. Family and friends may call from 9 a.m. until time of service at the church. Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home Inc.
