Joyce Elaine Hendricks, 76, of Callaway, Nebraska, passed away Friday, August 31, 2012, at the Golden Living Center in Broken Bow, Nebraska.
She was born December 20, 1935, at Oconto, Nebraska to Fred and Elsie (Studley) Dittmar. Joyce graduated from Oconto High School with the class of 1953, and then furthered her education at Kearney State College where she studied to be a teacher. She taught rural school in Custer County for a couple years. On December 20, 1954, she married the love of her life, Richard Hendricks, in Oconto. Four children were blessed to this marriage; Mike, Judy, Dan and Dennis.
Joyce worked for a three years at Callaway Good Samaritan Center and twenty years at Monroe Auto in Cozad. She retired in 1998.
Joyce enjoyed growing beautiful flowers, knitting, crocheting, cooking for big family get-togethers, and belonging to the HHH Club. She was a loving wife, wonderful mother and cherished grandmother. Her life was full and her door always open to friends and family.
She attended the United Methodist Church in Callaway.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years: Richard Hendricks of Callaway, NE; three sons: Mike (Cindy) Hendricks of Lexington, NE; Dan (Kim) Hendricks of Callaway, NE; Dennis (Peg) Hendricks of Callaway, NE;
one daughter: Judy Walton of Westmoreland, KS, three brothers: Calvin Dittmar of Oconto, NE; Darl (Milrae) Dittmar of Oconto, NE; and Jim (Margaret) Dittmar of Shelton, NE; seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, extended family and many friends.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents.
There will be no visitation as the family has honored Joyce's wishes that her body be cremated. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, September 4, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Callaway with Reverend Roger Gillming officiating. Inurnment will be in the Christ Lutheran Cemetery southwest of Oconto, NE.
