Baptized in Ashburnham, Mass. on June 12, 1842.

According to the census of 1900 Newton and Frances owned a home at 88 Chestnut Street in Gardner where they lived. They were renting a floor to William F. (#149848378) and Susan Goodnow at the time. The Brooks did not have children. Newton's occupation was stated to be "setting up chairs". He was reportedly born in October of 1841 although his gravestone is engraved with the year 1840. His brother, Euclid, lived next door.
