Services for Judge Benjamin Franklin Bowman were held in the Christian Church officiated by Rev. Bedfod Smith, pastor of the First Christian Church in Olney and Rev. J.R. Balch, pastor of Seymour First Baptist Church. In his youth, Judge Bowman moved to Dent County, Missouri. He moved to Tarrant County, Texas in the early 1880s. He received a good education and took the examination for a teacher's certificate after which he taught for three years in New Mexico and then in Tarrant County. In 1890, Mr. Bowman moved to Seymour to begin work for the grocery firm of Luck & Taylor. He worked for J.E. Murrie and in 1896, he started his own grocery business in Seymour. From 1907 to 1908 he served as Baylor County Judge. He served several terms as County Commissioner and was for a time the justice of the peace. where he served until 1930. On 25 October 1892, Judge Bowman married Miss Bessie Ranson. Into this union, nine children were born. Judge Bowman was converted and joined the Christian Church in 1890. He is also survived by one brother and two sisters.
