Mary was born December 3, 1915, in rural Chillicothe, the daughter of Harry H. and Cordelia May (Myers) McCormick.
She was united in marriage to Thomas 'Bradford' Shinneman on December 25, 1935, at her family's residence in rural Chillicothe. Following Bradford's tragic death on October 19, 1961, she remained a widow for 51 years.
Mary enjoyed sewing and tending to her yard.
She took complete care of her father, mother, and brother in their invalid years, and also cared for her brother up to the final months when he was transferred to the nursing home.
A debilitating stroke in November 2008 forced Mary to leave her home and move to St. Joseph's Bluff to be closer to family.
Survivors include one great nephew, one great-great nephew, one great-great niece one great-great-great niece.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Thomas; one infant son, Bobbie Gene Shinneman in 1936; one brother, Ralph 'Jewel' McCormick.
Graveside services will be held at Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Sunday, September 2, 2012, at 2:00 p.m.
There is no scheduled family visitation. Friends may call the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Saturday, September 1, 2012, from Noon until 5:00 p.m.
