Peter Michael Creedon, 55, of Ninth District Rd., Somers, a retired History and Special Education Teacher at the Enrico Fermi High School in Enfield, died Monday, (June 17, 2002) at the Johnson Memorial Hospital in Stafford, after a courageous battle with a long illness. His beloved wife of 27 years, Judith Anne (Gajewski) preceded him in death on Dec. 24, 2001. Born in Dobb's Ferry, NY, a son of Elizabeth Agnes (Ward) Creedon and the late Gerard L. Creedon, Pete had been a resident of the Somers community since 1975. He received his BS from Pace University in New York and furthered his education by earning his MS in History from Westfield State College and his 6th Year Degree in Special Education at UCONN. Pete had taught at Fermi High for 20 years before his retirement. An active member of the faculty, he served as an advisor to the Drama Club and the Graduation Committee and for many years was the faculty advisor for the Fermi Teams that participated in ``As Schools Match Wits'' on Channel 22. Among Pete's favorite pastimes were reading and politics, but nothing exceeded his joy of traveling to the islands and Europe with Judy. He was also very proud of his Irish heritage and especially enjoyed the festivities surrounding St. Patrick's Day. He is survived by his daughter, Bridget Creedon of Somers; his mother, Elizabeth of Seminole, FL; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Gerard W. Creedon. A funeral procession will leave the Somers Funeral Home, 354 Main St., 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, for a Mass of Christian Burial, 1 p.m. in St. Bernard's Church, Enfield. Burial will be in the Somers Center Cemetery.
