Stephen Anthony Douglas Vinzant married Laura May Hollingsworth (ca 1884). He was known and visited relatives in Mercer County and was called Uncle SAD.
In 1975 part of William's (1800) original land purchase was owned by descendants of William Jr., Katherine Vinzant and Dorothy Vinzant Smith. The second 320 acres was owned and farmed by SAD Vinzant and Dale Cemetery came out of this half section north of Centerville, Iowa.
In narrative on William Vinzant, Allen L. Vinzant gives Stephen Vinzant's middle name as Anthony; the data sheet for Stephen gives Arnold. Pending clarification, Anthony has been used consistent with Stephen Anthony Douglas -- Lincoln debater in early 1860s.
SAD Vinzant's will equally divided his estate between his wife and five children--1/5 to each. Estate estimated at $7, 000 personal property and $5, 000 real estate. Life insurance went to wife. Laura petitioned to live on the homestead during her lifetime and to receive a sufficient amount to meet her living expenses.--Granted 8 Sept 1941 to pay $50/month. Stella Clark lived in Kansas City Missouri, Virginia Vinzant Nelson lived in Sioux City, Iowa, Roma Carpenter lived in Cincinnati, Ohio. SAD owned Lot 1, Block 5, Range 5 in Centerville, Iowa, and lots 18, 19, 20 in Block 1, Fairlawn Addition to Centerville; $6, 857.08 cash. Roma owed $1450 at 5% interest. Total $13, 307.78.
