Born to Chester Sheldon and Inez Rosalie (nee-Thomas)Alquist on June 26, 1933 in Wakefield Kansas
Rosalie was united in marriage to Richard Parsons on Februry 9, 1958. They celebrated 54 years of marriage.
She was found to have metastatic cancer approximately three weeks before her death, discovered only after falling and breaking her hip.
Growing up in Wakefield and Clay Center Kansas, she was a graduate of Clay County High School. After high school she graduated from Stormont Vail School of Nursing. She also graduated Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Missouri
Rosalie worked briefly as a nurse at Barnes Jewish and St. Mary's Hospitals in St. Louis, Missouri, and was an avid volunteer throughout her life. She worked in many ministies and organizations, including the Salvation Army, The American Red Cross. She was a member of the P.E.O. chapter in Warrenton, Missouri. She started the Stephen Ministry at Bonhomme Presbyterian Church. She was very active with the youth in her church, taking them to many work camps and started the Logos Ministry at St. Paul's United Church of Christ. Rosalie also founded the Hands Fulla Good News Puppet and Drama Team and was an active member of this ministry for several years. She always pursued the knowledge of the Bible and studied at Christ Seminary-Seminex, Bible Study Fellowship and many small groups. She engaged professors from Seminex to teach small groups at her church.
She enjoyed many other interests and hobbies. At one oint she had nine dogs, all living inside her home. She enjoyed quilting and pressing flowers to make note cards. She had several perennial gardens around her home. She recently completed a cross stitch piece that she entered in the Missouri State Fair this summer and won second place. Rosalie enjoyed simple things like collecting rocks when she was on vacation, camping and fishing trips. She loved being active in her granddaughters lives. She was very devoted to her church family.
She is survived by her loving husband Richard, one daughter Cheryl Parsons, one son Tom Parsons and wife Marsha, four grandchildren Molly and Mary Parsons, and Ann and Marilyn Varner all of Marthasville, Missouri. Many other relatives and friends.
She was proceded in death by her parents, one sister Marilyn Roth, two brothers Sheldon and Edgar Alquist.
