Mr. Alport worked for many years at Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford, CT until his retirement in 1960.
He was a member of the Masonic Temple and involved in numerous other philanthropic organizations. He was a very wonderful grandfather who dedicated much of his time to his family.
He demonstrated unbelievable courage, devotion and will to live during the last five years of his life while a patient at the Hebrew Home and Hospital. He underwent tri-weekly kidney dialysis, attended daily religious services and was involved with patient affairs. He was named "Patient of the Month" on more than one occasion.
He leaves a daughter, Judith Kone of Delray Beach, FL; two granddaughters, Susan Kone and Tarryn Kone of New York, NY; two grandsons, Edward Kone and Gregg Kone of Boca Raton, FL; and two great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held TODAY, July 1, 2002 at the Piaterer Verein Cemetery in Wethersfield, Connecticut. Donations may be made to the Hebrew Home and Hospital or the Kidney Foundation. Published in The Hartford Courant on July 1, 2002
