Services for Maurice Benson, 89, Geneseo, are 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Gibson Funeral Home, Port Byron. Burial is in Cordova Cemetery. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from noon until services Thursday. Memorials may be made to his church, First United Methodist, Geneseo, or the American Cancer Society. Mr. Benson died Monday at Hammond-Henry Hospital, Geneseo. He was born Dec. 6, 1899, in Hampton. He married Gladys Genung March 11, 1931, in Cordova. She died in 1966. He married Nellie Hartman Kerr April 9, 1967, in Geneseo. He was a farmer in the Cordova area. Survivors include the widow; a daughter, Ruth Kerr, Camp Point, III; a son, Robert, Clinton, Iowa; stepsons George Kerr, Cordova, and Dr. Edwin Kerr, Camp Point; four grandchildren, five step grand-children, a great-granddaughter, six step great-grandchildren and four step great-great-grandchildren; sisters Elinor Kuehl, Davenport, and Lillian Nichols, Oceanside, Calif.; and a brother, Harold, Davenport.
